Kibaki hints at August poll

Friday July 22, 2011

A statement by President Mwai Kibaki has given the strongest indication yet that the next general election will be held in August next year (2012). While addressing mourners at a service for the late Archbishop Samson Mwangi Gaitho of the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa, the Head of State talked greatly about his impending retirement. And as Jane Kiyo reports, his insistence of not being eligible to run again for the presidency and his appeal to politicians not to make a big deal out of those polls, will for some appear to be a very loaded statement.
